What skimmer to get!

Ok i have a 29 gallon seahorse tank/hair algea facotry XD I have a 440 gph skilter filter on it now, and i dont like it at all. After doing a 50% water change yesterday, I realized what a bad job it has been doing. So i am going to get rid of it, and get a new one. I would like somthing that would be my main filter eg. Mechanical/biological as well as an EFFECTIVE skimmer. I dont exactly have a big budget on this... I would also like it to be hang on and quiet, because I do not have a sump with the tank and its in my bedroom.
I was looking at the Back pack 2 with dual skimmers. I can get it for 60 bucks at aquatraders, and I have been told that it is a good skimmer and is quiet. However as I was reading my aquarium fish magazine last night, i saw an add for the biostar flotor. here is a link with some info on it. http://www.aqua-medic.com/products/...iostar Flotor Im not sure what to think of it..... I also saw an add for the all flo freedom filter.... here is a link for that. http://www.freedomaquarium.com/site...ct-features.cfm THey all seem great, and I am debating which one to get the back pack, the biostar or the freedom filter

If you read the first page of the huge skimmer thread stickied to top of this forum the expert will tell you what he thinks are the best brands. I originally bought the wrong skimmer but then spent more money on the right on. It made an unbelievable difference. There are a lot of tips in that thread that will make any skimmer work better.

Check out "aquatraders" in the Vendor forum... I don't think you want to buy anything from them! IMO for a 29 gallon tank you should get either an AquaC Remora or a Coralife Superskimmer 65.

Ok i am looking at the coralife super skimmer, and i think I might go with it. However I have just one question about it, and that is does it put lots of micro bubbles in the aquarium?

Also If I were to get that, I wouldnt have any mechanical filtration, or a place for chemical... I would need another prefferably hang on or chanister filter to go with it...Any suggestions? and I am looking at the freedom filter, and if it is as good as they say it is, wouldnt that be better?

HA HA lol guess the super skimmer isnot for me... It says I need a bare minimum six inces of clearence between the tank and the wall, and unfortunatly I only have 5 inches and so i guess that settles that...

Sorry about the skimmer problem, but I think you'll find similar difficulties (i.e. need room) for most of the HOBs. Check out the specs on the Remora if the CLSS isn't going to work (or take the hood off the tank and put it on the side).

As for HOB filters, I use Aquaclear - plenty of room for whatever media you want to use and they don't break (I have one on a freshwater tank that's been working for 5 years now). The only difficulty is that they sometimes need a little help restarting if the power goes off.

whatnot, I would definitely check out the remora.I was given 5 skimmers to test over a few months, the ramora and ramora pro were the best hang on's
