What skimmer to get?

I want to get a new skimmer, but it's looking like ti will have to be in external skimmer as my sump is kinda small and being used as a fuge.

So I was looking if anybody had some creative ideas to get a new skimmer that could be used externally, or ideas to create a rubermaid tub and somehow plumb it into my main 75gal system...

Any and all ideas would be great...
Thanks
Josh

There is a good thread in the DIY section about using a 5 gallon water jug to make a skimmer. You would probably need 2 of those jugs to make 1 skimmer.

Would the Octopus NW 150 be sufficient for my tank, and also what the heck is a recirculating skimmer actually supposed to do?

The nw 150 would be fine.

Recirc skimmer increase contact time. Two indentically spec'd skimmer, body size, pump, etc. you can except better production out of the recirc.

How's your current setup/space/etc. for a rubbermaid?

I have a rubbermaid that would sit behind my 75. I could make a stool for it, or whatever, I could maybe even talk my dad into letting me plumb it into his 100 gal horse trough....the possibilites are endless...

Here ya go... Might over skim the tank a little ;) It holds almost 75 gallons so it could serve as another tank. lol Sory had to show off my new toy

Oh come on guys! You act as if you've never seen a 6ft. tall skimmer on a home reef tank before. That thing is so big it's not even funny. The collection cup alone will easily hold a case.

LOL I don't think I could afford the shipping for that thing, much less the skimmer.......and to think I thought my NW-200 was a big skimmer

The cool thing is Spazz lives close, he drove it to me and installed it, tell me thats not customer service!

That's not customer service, he didn't want you to screw it up so he had to do it himself! J/K man! You could've done it yourself....sooner or later. :D

Spazz have a web site yet?

I didn't know the skimmers had a company name yet.

You got to start a thread for that.

I havn't put my meter on it yet but NYVP said his pulls about 185w. Also I just added a section on my webpage going into detail about the skimmer

Anyways sorry for hijacking the thread acidlittle.... The 150NW skimmer is awesome infact it was running my tank for 3 months while I was waiting for this thing to be build. I just sold it along with my 60 gallon cube but I plan on buying another one for my prop tank when I spererate the systems.
