hello, i have a 210 reef ready tank and im trying to find out what skimmer i should get? I would like to spend anywhere from 500 to 600 on the skimmer and would like it to be an internal one. I have an octo 200 but its older and i was going to run that on my 90 so just want to get an idea of where i should start?

Thanks

I have the same question but for a bigger tank... about 750 gal system volume. I'm not quite as limited on the budget but I'm not looking to burn money just to smell the smoke.

I've had Aquamedic, Euro Reef, ASM, ATB and the I-Tech skimmers in that order.. Each was in improvement on the other. The I-Tech being the best skimmer I've owned.

I purchased the ATB about a year and a half ago and it is a nice skimmer but I was having a little problem with keeping the foam in the neck level constant. For whatever reason if I had the water level in the neck of the skimmer high enough to skim well it would overflow the cup with the slightest provocation. If it was a little lower I would get much less skimmate in the cup and the neck would get very dirty over the course of several days.

Then I purchased the I-Tech 100 for a frag tank that I built. The I-Tech is a very consistant skimmer and produces great dark skimmate and very stable, built like a tank and built right here in USA. The price is MUCH less than the ATB as well. The I-Tech is the best one I've owned. They have 4 models for tanks rated 100 gallons to the Super Beast which I believe is rated for 1000 gallons.

You can check them out at www.i-techskimmers.com

I just pre-ordered an Alpha cone skimmer from premiumaquatics. I haven't received it, so I can't attest to its performance, but it might be a worthy consideration.

I have to agree. the I-tech beats the pants off Bubble King, ATB, and any other out there. There is a thread somewhere on RC that shows an ATB side by side with an I-tech in teh same sump, and the I-tech is killing the ATB.

Let's tone it down a little, comments such as this are simply inflammatory and not constructive. Thanks.
