I was thinking i need to upgrade my skimmer. My current setup is 125 RR with 33 gal. sump. I have a sps, softies. So i was looking at the Octopus Recirc dual 150, it's rated for 300 gallons. How true is this???

Also, to add any advise on any skimmer would be awesome. My wife's budget for my skimmer 100.00, My budget is no more than 500.00

First off throw her budget out the window.. And second my old skimmer is a CPR SR4 in sump skimmer that is 8-10 years old. So i would'nt think it would be worth much but i don't know , it works well , i've just outgrown it..

Most people will tell you their skimmer is great and that you should get one also. Personally, I would do more research and decide for yourself. There are countless skimmer threads in the lighting/equipment forum, all you have to do is search.

The only decent advice I can give you is to look for a used one so that you can get more 'bang for your buck.'

I have an Octopus 200 ricirc that I picked up for $200 on the for sale forum. This thing kicks major butt for what I have into it.

I just bought a 6month old Octo Recirc 150 off the sale forums for $175.00 including shipping - and it was already mesh-modded.

Hopefully, that will give you an idea of what you can expect to pay if shopping for a used one. I can't wait to get this bad boy plumbed up and running (I'm going to run it externally)

Good luck!

I have an ASM G2 skimmer for sale. It's mesh modded and skims very good. I'll make you a good deal on it! Shoot me a PM if you're interested.

The DAS and the trigger are pretty sweet. Einsteins which pump you running on your TS300?( mag 18), the used Octo sounds like a deal

One thing to remember is most all have the same technoldgy. I mean dont be fooled into thinking another more expensive skimmer has any better impleller..ect.

I would tend to question this statement. Impeller technology is key to skimmers.
