What SKIMMER??

I'll have a ETSS Reef Devil Deluxe for sale when all of my live rock/corals/sand/fish/etc. is gone...hopefully within the next week to 10 days.

Rated for 220-300 gallons based on load.

Research the skimmer and you'll find positive reviews - downdraft design used by major aquariums - Shedd/New England/Brooklyn/Dallas/Waikiki/N.Carolina/Sea World/Virginia Beach/Pittsburg Zoo/ etc...

Do you have a link for the Reef Devil deluxe? The only reef devil deluxe i found is only rated to 180 gallons. What pump are you running it with?

I'm running a Rio rated @ 792 gph and they suggest 700gph (Mag7 or similar) with 200 gallons system volume. According to them tanks with softies need the least filtration then sps then fish only.

Their site rates the skimmer from 75-220 gallons and they used to rate it up to 300 where you'll find it rated with online vendors.

I have a question for the Reef Devil Deluxe guys...its rated for 75-220, thats a big difference. My system is 60 gallons total with a high bioload. I was given one of these skimmers but I'm not sure what pump to use, I don't want to overskim. How do I get it closer to a 75 gallon rating?

Alot people have a bunch of opinions on overskimming. I don't think you can. jmo though. llebcire says a mag7 for 200 gallons. so maybe something a like a mag 5 with a ball valve to turn it down..

If you go here, you'll see that ETSS rates the skimmer for 75 gallons with a fish only tank and 220 gallons with a softies tank.

I can only "assume" that the variations are also due to pump size as the chart rates it for 150 gallons but doesn't specify a pump.

So - this sounds like the right skimmer for you with a 60g and high bio load.

Obviously, skimmer selection seems to have wild variations in size selection for all manufacturers/users/etc.
