What software to create 3D images?

I've seen many 3D images of tanks, stands, etc. on here. For people doing this for a home use computer, what software would recommend? I just want to draw out a stand design.

I use SketchUp. It's easy, free, and there are tons of good resources for learning.

The only one I can think of is AutoCad

concur with sketch up.. takes a bit to learn, but a couple youtube videos will get you moving along

I just use the free version. The paid version is much more power, but for simple modeling like this, the free one is more than adequate.
