Hi bought a Toadstool on the weekend, what should I feed it? I am currently using Phytoplankten ever other day for my 2 small mushrooms and the fish get cylo-peeze and mysis or brine shrimp everyday.
There's not a real need to directly feed a toadstool leather. Ours grows noticable amounts without direct feedings. They can thrive off their photosynthetic capabilities quite well. One LFS around here claims that there isn't a commercial product available that we can sucessfully feed to a toadstool leather that it'll actually take in the same manner we think of feeding our other corals (although I'm a bit skeptical of that statement myself). Keeping your water parameters in-check will help with growth. I do dose iodine weekly, although it appears it benefits our other soft corals more so than our toadstool.
I've never spot fed any of mine, they're doing well with light, possibly dissolved organics, and leftovers from feeding my fish and suncoral. DT's oyster eggs, cyclopeeze, frozen rotifiers, DT's phyto, and chopped mysis.
