What species of star fish are you feeding your Harlequin Shrimp?

Where are you getting them? How much are you paying? How many will the shrimp eat a month?

I have freinds that feed thier's chocolate chip stars and they eat them like mad.

I get them at local LFS, wherever it's cheapest. 7-9 bucks, depending on size. One decent size will last me about 6 weeks for my pair of harlequins. I cut each leg each week. To keep my pair from fighting over one leg, I cut that in half. As for the final piece, (just the mouth area without the legs), I just dump the whole thing and both would be on each ends, playing tug of war

I bought my harlequin to eat the asterinas taking over my tank. They're freeeee and he's still eating as many as a I feed him.

Most people feed them chocolate chips stars... usually cut an arm off then put the shrimp in the sump to regrow while the harlequins eat the other foot... and as the other poster said they will eat asterinas...
