What starfish is this?

Anyone know what the red starfish is? It looks pretty cool and just came up for sale at my local LFS.

I was wondering if its reef safe

I JUST seen these in bluezoo collectors choice too... I think they are purple and red tile fromias. They ONLY eat an invisible film algae thats only present in large established setups. Usually a 1 year established tank should have enough to support them.

Depends on size as well. Everything I'm reading says min. of 100 gallons.

Which is making me feel like a real a$$ for getting a blue linckia before doing my research.

But back to OP's question:

Generally considered reef safe. They also reportedly eat some sponges.

Nope, They only eat invisible film algae and (according to the OP) sponges that are on the rocks. Its food is only present in very established aquariums.
