I'm getting a 24x24x24 cube and would like to try T-5's I'm going to have a canopy so I would like to go retrofit. The tank is going to be for my LPS and Softies. I've never used t-5's so I have no clue what to get 6x24" or 4x24" what reflectors? what ballast? What lights. I like a blueish looking tank. Thanks guys

For lps & softies i would go with 4 bulbs T5 setup, Ice Cap reflectors, Ice cap 660 ballast. For blueish look, you can try:
- 1 day light
- 1 actinic
- 2 blue plus

I run T5 and love them...but for a 24" cube...go with MH. Its the better choice for your size. Get a sls lumenmax and you can do the hole thing with one 250w MH.

i agree, in this case MH is a better option, provided you dont allow the mh to heat the tank

but i disagree with the post by the guy mentioning using an IC ballast to run the t5s. on a tank thats too much power, esp for lps and softies.

I think the 4x24 on an Ice Cap for LPS and softies might actually be just the ticket on a 24" cube. Just spread the lamps out a bit so you aren't blastin a small area with the high intensity and you should have a pretty good system.

I would either do that or the halide.

thanks

thanks

tiny t the skimmer arrived yesterday. its in perfect shape thanks again and good luck with the lights.

His tank is 24" deep that's why i recommended the IC ballast to maximize the T5's performance. Of course a single 250w/400w metal halide is also good but he only asked about the T5.

Yeah, MH would probably be better but I already have a reef with 3x MH and would like to try something different, I'm thinking 6x24w T-5 Thanks for the input guys
