My personal experiance is that you can keep most things in the range of 77-86(upwards of 87 88) and you will be just fine. I have also had temp swings of higher than 4-5 degrees and saw no signs of stress or anything. Just my .02
I keep mine at 77.8 degrees. I live in a cold climate, and keep my house at 72 degrees via AC in the summer. My sump and refugium is in the basement. I have a fan that kicks in over my sump if it tries to get above 78. Everything does just fine.
Now that winter is coming, I was thinking of dropping it to 76.5 so I don't have to heat it as much.

I think you mean "chiller." Several posts here on RC have stated that the more stable you have the temperature, the more the corals will be affected by a temperature swing. If the hottest you are getting is 83, then you should be fine.
I started having issues with temp when a) I added pumps and b) moved my tank near an exterior wall with poor insulation. Summer temps in FL can be pretty high. I having been putting off installing a fan in my stand though, I think it would help. I may do that tomorrow and I'll let you know what happens. Thanks for all of the input, I think that everything will be good. Especially now that its cooling down.
