What the heck is this thing? about scard the crap out of me. I was doing some mantanance at night and saw this massive amount of what I thout was hair. I went to move it and it squirmed like a starfish. 100's of massivly long tentacles. I put it in a plastic baggie and starting taking pictures when I noticed a head came out. My camera just couldnt get up close enough but this thing looks and acts just like an eel. Even opens and closes its mouth like one. It is wicked looking. It measures approx 3 inches long and the head is about the size of a ball point pin tip. Anybody got a clue as to what it is??????

Not sure on the spelling, but it looks like a cirratulid, or hare worm. Good things. They are usually buried with only their tentacles showing.

It just showed up in my tank and trust me, it about scared the pee poo out of me. I was in my tank at night doing some maintenance when out of the corner of my eye I saw this round shaped patterd of tentacles move. It looked like a starfish without a body and had what looked like hundreds of legs. When I poked at it, it dissapeared back under the rubbled. I dug it up and there you have it. Still have not touced it in fear of getting zapped. I kept in in a baggie until I could get someone from here to help identify it. Since a few folks have said not to worry about it, I placed it back in its home to be scared again another night.....

Ya I'd probably faint from a thing that creepy lol jking but i noticed for some reason that all the pics seem to be different

pic 1:It looks like a creepy lawnmower blenny face puking out something or it sticking its hairy tongue out. (The face is right side of the pic and if you check closely you can kind of see an eye)

pic 2: This one looks like a moray eel getting eaten by a giant squid (only if they were 100000xlarger)(face is at the bottom of the pic)

pic 3: this one looks like some goby half bitten off bleeding to death (face on the left)

pic 4: looks like some kind of a knife.

pic 5: looks like a bunch of pipe fish or snakes grouping up.

That's crazy looking. I'm just like you, I would have freaked out as well... At least it's not harmful, I just hope I never find one of those in my tank.

I used to have about a half a dozen in my old reef. They did a great job cleaning anything floating and edible in my tank. They never hurt anything.
