What the big deal about PPE

Listen,
What you do with your wife is your business!
Yeah, I'm down for trading Jay. Like the rest of the people I'm stalking, lets trade in the spring.

Bill

PS You get great pics of your family. My kids will not sit still with my wife long enough to get such a great pic like you have.:)

Accidently removed it off my ftp. IT's back. I picked those up from a person in Miami. (Blue ones)

lol probably. Cleanup crews in Fl are cheap. 30 cents per astrea. I think they just pick em up from the coast.

Once it warms up man, let's do a huge frag fest. I know you have quite a few and I don't mind getting you a frag of everything. Always good to have a backup in case u lose a colony. My cap fell on these insane red and orange rim zoos. I had about 40 polyps. All but 4 died. I hope I never have to deal with that again.

I'm game.;)

Sucks about those zoas. I hate when I lose animals due to others killing them. Lucky they didn't all die.

Ok honestly now whoda.... Is it that good because if it is, I will buy it right now lol. I missed some spots. Being 6-3, I still can't reach the back of my tank lol.

honestly? it's THAT good!!

here, shot a few things for you tonight... for the movies, r-click and 'save as'!

the only inaccuracy i gave earlier is for like a coraline covered back glass, it does take a couple passes, 3 tops. i usually use it on my sandline which only takes 1 pass but i don't let it build up that much. but check out the movies. i don't normally scrape my back glass, but did a small section for ya.

you'll like it so much that you'll send a few of those PPE my way...

PS: am not affiliated w/ OM at all. paul's a cool cat w/ great products! but no affiliation. :)

Those PPe's are by far my favorite or PHE's also....just something about that rich deep purple....Although blues do come a close second, those are both nice colonies.

Only downside to me is my rock is all purple. It doesn't really pop.

Does anyone notice with their PPE's or other PE types, the less intensity of light, the larger the polyp? Mine are much bigger lower down then up top. I wonder if they open up more to absorb more light.

jay24k, thats crazy that your PPE speckled like that. i STILL don't have any of my own, and i think your pic is the first i've ever seen of a PPE that speckled under brighter light.

i was under the impression, that protopalythoas (PE's) liked MORE light...?? i have several different PE types, and they dont look near as good under less light than they do up higher in my tank under brighter light. mine seem to open up more, higher in my tank.

but, i notice that you are using 10k bulbs...which are pretty darn intense on 250w..and may have something to do with them not liking the more intense light.

i have one form, that is pink and green and seems to speckle less the further i raise it up in the light.

I'd rather em not speckle. And I wonder if it almost like the speckle is a slight bleach. I don't know. The speckles have not gone away though. The babies do not have them tho. I'm gonna frag off 2 speckles and toss them in the nano w/ pc tank. It will be a nice test to see what a lower spectrum will do.

WOW! I think thats the worst speckling I've ever seen! I've got bad news though...I've been testing mine in several different lights and places & the speckles dont go away. I've got ones from 5 years ago that still have speckles. Its the 10K light that did it to them. I had a broke actinic when I had PCs and all of mine did that. They also dont like 400W bulbs either & if your running 250DE's thats about the same as 400's.
Here's mine, the middle are speckled...what I thought was bad

My PPE's haven't speckeled yet, but my RPE's have. They certainly show no signs of recovering color in the speckled areas. I've got mine about 1/3 the way up in a 125 under 250W DE 10K AB's (more like 8K;)) with 2 6' VHO's. The 250W 10K's are too much for alot of my corals. My sps love them, but lps are not very happy.
