G3 upgrade doesn't appear to be unavailable, as far as I know. Available through the Ecotech store.

Likely G3s will be more than enough and they both have all the color spectrums so there's no real loss of features, it's just about how high power you need the fixture. Which likely you'll have it turned way down anyway. Get the G3 n save the $ IMO
