I found two of these animals in my new tank. They never leave live rocks so I have seen only two inches of him, but I have no idea haw mach more is in a hole. What they are? Are they good?
It's a chiton which has a mantle that covers most of the upper body and the 8 shell plates. It's in the genus Cryptoplax, possibly the species C. larvaeformis. They're very common hitchhikers in tanks and harmless grazers.
