Can I borrow your towel
Hey there fish people!
I have a shallow, but round reef. DT is about 190 gallons, 16" tall, 5' round. Total water volume is about 400 gallons on the system. Massive skimmer, ozone, good water movement stable and correct water chemistry. This is an SPS dominated, though mixed reef (Bunch of Acans& Zoa's in addition to SPS).

My current fish list is:

Lavender Tang ~4 or 5"
Gold Rim Tang ~4 or 5"
Copper Band Butterfly ~ 3"
Leopard Wrasse ~ 3"
Swales Basslet ~ 2"
2x Chalk Basslet ~ 2" each
Yellow Corris Wrasse ~ 4"
Mated Pair Picasso Clowns ~ 1.5" each
World's Largest Sleeper Head Goby* ~ size of my arm
*Only because I can't catch him! Man, that fish has GOT to go!

Boy, that seems like a lot of fish when I type it out, but I've been itching to add something new.

I admit what I WANT to add is a sohal or clown, but I won't for fear of what could happen. Having a lot of unobstructed swimming room helps (since they can just go and go round and round) but I don't think I can make that happen. There are some exotic butterfly fishes that I would think about too, save for the coral and invert concerns.

I like bold striking fish, Powder blue and brown tangs, the above mentioned sohal & clown, Achilles would be good. Better yet if I can pair them or school them.
Anthias seem like an obvious choice, but they're not my style, their colors tend to sort of merge together rather than be decisive. I do like the personality though.

Always thinking about a mandarin, but want to wait a few more months before I go there...

Anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

Have you considered any of the rabbit fishes? Mine has tons of personality and I have seen some really cool ones out there. I.E. the Blue line, Scribbled, and Spotted. I love the Sohal tangs but that might end up being a nightmare b/c of the attitude they can have. My Achilles is very personable and non-aggressive but if you already have a Gold rim you might end up with a problem seeing their both from the Acanthurus family. You could always do some type of male wrasse with a harem as well. Also you tank is amazing.

Thanks Gina,
I have looked at the rabbit fish, but there is something about their shape I don't like. I'm not sure why. I have kind of a bizarre taste in what I like and don't like. Unfortunately most of the fish I LOVE at not reef safe, except for tangs... of which I would like to have a dozen completely incompatible ones :)

Thanks for the ideas though. I really am struggling with not getting the sohal or clown, just such amazing looking fish, but I don't want to mess with my current two tangs that much.

don't get a clown. even though they're so beautiful.

Sigh... Yeah, I know, I know... or the Sohal, or the Achilles, or the Powder Blue etc etc.

What I should do is remove the sleeper head and a get like a dozen little fish. A whole bunch of little gobies and blennies, but things that don't mess with my sand bed and get things all over my corals.

Dude, sounds like that sleeper goby is gettin' ya down! You gotta get that sucka outa there!!! What methods of capture have you tried?

I've tried luck with a net (that was short lived) and the home made 2 liter bottle trap. I could have caught every single other fish in the tank with that an half a cube of brine, but the sleeper head, nah....
