what to clean power heads with?

About half 'n half water and white vinegar. If there is a lot of coraline algae on there, let them soak overnight. Rinse them real well before you put them back in the tank. An old toothbrush is helpful if you need to scrub.

Vinegar is good. Muriatic Acid is better IMO. 1 part acid to 10 parts water. Be sure to add the acid to the water... not visa versa

Drop the powerheads in a bucket of half RO/DI and half vinegar. Run them for 20 minutes. Dump water, rinse buckets, fill with RO/DO water and run powerheads another 20 minutes. Rinse powerheads with more RO/DI, you're good to go.

Straight vinegar, don't dilute it or you raise the pH which is what you don't want to do. Its the low pH that disolves the calcium buildup. Just don't leave them in it for more than a few hours, which isn't necessary anyway with straight white vinegar, or you begin to soften the rubber components.
