What to do when the magfloat won't cut it?

So I've got some good coraline algae going which is great! Bad news is I can't seem to get at it at all with the magfloat and its slowly encroaching the front acrylic.

Ideas?

Thanks,

J

Kent makes some aquarium scrapers that I think are pretty good. I have the Kent Pro Scraper Short, with a plastic blade so it's safe on acrylic. It does a pretty good job removing coralline.

credit card or kent scraper, both do about the same thing and the plastic doesn't cause problems like the razors on acrylic.. kent scraper may be easier on your hand if you doing it for a while..

Thanks all. That was easy. Oh and good tip about the scraper for ergonomics, my hand was sore after about 15 minutes. There's still a bunch on the sides as you can see, but it doesn't bother me.

Thanks,

Jonah

OceansMotions makes an addon to the magfloat that adds the blade to the magnet for removing the coraline, etc. I thought I also saw similar products online from other vendors, but I cannot be 100% sure. This is for "the next time", of course :)

Oh, and we don't worry about anything other than the front pane either, when we clean the tank :)

Mighty Magnets has a few extra parts for their magnets that work great on coraline. They have a algae scraper which is like they took one of those kitchen sponges with the abrasive mesh on the outside and used the mesh around the magnet. The other one is the algae cutter which is a plastic triangle that velcros to the algae pad. It works great. I have to work on some huge tanks and these parts make it so I don't have to go diving all time.
