I would definitely upgrade the lighting soon. Depending what you want you may not need the investment into halides. In regards to the fish, I believe the hawkfish will snack on invertebrates. Once you get a little more light output you might want to look at corals, just beware of aggressive fish. Good luck.

1 more MJ900 and also ill post the parts u need for a 150 dollar metal halide setup so you can keep whatever:

Here is the ballast that also comes with the socket you will need. You can also do a DIT reflector to cut down on costs even more.

And here is a few different bulbs
Cheap but good

so for anywhere from about 60-120 bucks you can have a 250w metal halide setup.

The only other parts you will need is an extention chord, and possibly a reflector if you dont want to make your own. PM me for the wiring scheme if you want. Good luck andh ave fun :)

HEy thanks for the tips. Should I go with a 20k? I still dont really understand when iw ould need 10l or 20k ect.... I was really hoping to get a a hawkfish but my inverts are important hehe.

29G $30
25lbs tonga branch $100
70 Lbs, Seeded lace rock $100 from a friend
40lbs sand $ 35

3 square inches for the fish to swim in.....priceless

i actually really like the rockwork!! first things first, take all the rock out and get rid of those damsels! i can guarantee you will regret it if you don't take them out now!! im guessing you used them to cycle your tank?? they are not the nicest fish if you are going to add some more docile fish. imo, get rid of the damsels and then add some fish. just make sure to do some homework on the fish you buy bc trying to get a fish out of that rockwork would be really funny to watch. hth. and good start!!

Hey guys I got a couple new fish tonight.... Talked with a few ppl and told me 2 nemos would be fine with my damsles... well so far so good.. but one of the damsels has raised his fins but didnt nip at them or anything I also got a Brittle star fancy... hes green and creepy... I am wondering what I can grow with a 70watt Mh over this tank????? I have a chance to get the setup for about 50 bucks.... hard to turn down...

you would be better off with a pc or t-5 or a 150w mh. i had a viper light over my 12g and i didn't like it at all, so now i have a pc 130w over it and it looks better. although i just had the jbj bulbs so maybe a different bulb would be better. but softies, aka shrooms, zoo's, leathers, toadstool. im telling ya though you are going to want more light than that 70w is going to give off, especially with all that rock work.
