What does one do with old tanks?

I have an old oceanic that was leaking and I don't feel like tracking down the leak and I have a brand new 50 gallon that I was going to use as a sump and a friend accidentally broke it so I had to get a 40 breeder since they no longer make a 50 gallon.

I need to dispose of both of these tank but I am not sure what to do.

any suggestions?

Most would have more satisfaction busting it up....but cleaning up that kind of stuff has its dangers too.

I would put it out for trash unless it really looked good (no scratches and in good apearence)

The tanks are trashed. No one would want to trade anything for them. I am thinking about cutting the 50 gallon apart and salvaging the glass in case I ever need it.

I'd use if for reptiles. Try calling pet stores around that sell reptiles and rodents, they may give you something for it even if just a few bucks.

I think cutting them apart might be a pain, and then storing it, you'd always have to worry that someday there might be an accident of some sort, especially if you have kids around. And repairing them is not a good option, since you'd always have doubt about leaks, even with a sealant patch job.

I agree with the others, either herp or small mammal tank. Post it on craigslist in the freebies section, it will be gone before nightfall, there are always people looking for tanks for air-breathing pets.
