i know that you should start feeding live fish to entice their feeding. what live fish should i try to feed. i know i can feed rosie reds but i also hear that feeding freshwater fish insnt a good thing in the long run. any help would be nice

Before i got rid of mine in my old tank, i fed him brine shrimp then slivers of fish. never tried feeder fish

i have had a dwarf lion fish for 2yrs. i feed small guppies every other day, live brine shrimp and ghost shrimp once in a while. i tried alot of things. they will eat what they want and thats it. they r hunters so they like live food. but he has not eaten my coral banded shrimp in 2 weeks yet. so far, so good.

mine loved shrimps, i tried a pep and it ate it , same with one of my clowns

I feed mine guppies and gut loaded ghost shrimp. Rosie reds are no bueno as they have an enzyme in their tissue that can hamper growth. Thyaminease IIRC. I remember reading up on this when I was researching my piranhas that I used to keep.

i have a piranha too and he eats guppies and flake food. gut loading is always good 2. i feed the guppies and shortly afterwards i feed to the lion fish.

Saltwater ghost shrimp and mollies. Both can live in your tank until they are eaten instead of dying and either having to be pulled out or polluting your tank. Plus they both also eat algae while they're waiting to be a snack!

Gut-packed ghost shrimp, mollies, and guppies are good to get them started. Once they are acclimated there's really no reason (most of the time anyway) that they can't or won't eat frozen food. Krill, mysis, silversides, shrimp, scallop, clam, squid, fish flesh, (you get the idea) and more. Variety is important, for health and colour. I work at an LFS and I won't sell any lionfish that isn't eating frozen food (this is because where I am, people have this obsession of feeding ANY of their fish with goldfish, it's beyond me). IME, most of the time when a lionfish won't take frozen food, it's because the owner is afraid that it'll starve to death and if it doesn't eat prepared food right away they continue live food.
I'm not saying live food can't be used (just make sure to gut-load), its just more expensive and less convenient.

I have a fumanchu and used live ghost shrimp to ween it over to frozen food. It associates the bamboo skewers as food and will eat what ever is on the end of it. I find that it helps to wiggle the food a little. This seems to get it to strike at the food.

I feed mostly krill and silversides.

Just make sure you mix it up and dont just feed krill or silversides. I was just feeding mine krill and all a sudden one day it wouldnt eat anymore and went over 5 weeks without eating and died. I got another and made trips to the seafood market twice a month for 1/4 lb of fresh shrimp, and 3 to 4 sea scallops, and everynow and then i would get oysters or squid. Peel the shrimp and cut everything up nice and small and sandwich bagged. Put all except one bag in the freezer. That one bag went in the fridge so food was always thawed. Feed shrimp one day and scallop or squid the next.
