What to look for in a plate coral.

As the title says. Euphyllia etc are pretty easy to shop for. Because of how the skeleton is visable on plates, I always feel like they look sickly.

What do you look for to find a healthy specimen?

Thanks!

I look for tissue that covers the entire skeleton, tentacles extended, and good color, i.e. not brown or bleached. Also look for sand or other detritus on the specimen; even if it looks good, copious amounts of sand on the tissue could be causing a lot of stress that would make it harder to transfer.

Thanks for the sand tip!
