what to put in a tide tank?

at work we are building a tide tank. it will always have 3 inches of water in it al the way to 10 inches. of water at high tide

we plan to do this like mangrove area ( the type of dries compleatly at low tide) ( gonna make a beach)
so what type of stuff would you put in it
we would like somthing that comes out at low and comes out a high

note taht because this is for display reasons tides will change every 1- 2 hours. not as relisistic i know.. but it is for show

i was thinking putting PC on the tank and then having a few zoos that will be out of water at low tide

this tank will also have a surge device

well i've heard and seen a few pics of some of the stoney corals out of water completely at low tides...i cant remember the names of any of those stoney corals tho lol...one of the branchyer types for lack of better name haha

how bout starfish? i'm pretty sure that theres some starfish in tidepools...sea world has a huge tide pool with a bunch of starfish...altho that water is like 40 degrees lol...maybe not that low, but it was really really cold.

what about active moving animal.

i wash thinking mudskippers
and fiddler crabs ( or the type taht burry them selfs at high tide)

I just got back from Puerto Rico, and the tide pools had sea hares, nudibranchs, baby fish, crabs, snails, and hermit crabs. All different types of algae grew there as well. At low tide the pools were about 90+ degrees and at high tide they were about 77-80 depending on what direction the waves were coming from.

I think it is a great idea.

There are many very nicely colored fiddler crabs from the indo-pacific that burrow and have fasinating behaviours. They are perfect for beach/tide tanks
