What to put under a 180

I am currently planning out a 180 in wall and was wondering what I should use as a sump?


I currently have a 40 long under my 150 with three chambers 1) input/skimmer 2) Sand bed and macro 3) return.

What should I plan on for the 180 it will be mixed reef with mostly softies at first then moving towards sps

I say the bigger the better.... but it really depends on what kind of equipment you want? For my 210 I chose a 70 gallon for the refuge (36x18 footprint) and it draned into a 30 gallon which held my euro-reef rs 250 skimmer... This work absolutely great for me, until i wanted a calcium reactor, and media reactors.. then there wasn't enough room... so my suggestion is to figure out what exactly you want first then proceed.. Let me tell you, it is a horses butt to take out stuff after your system is up and running..

By the way, my sytem looked alot better than this... this was still when i was getting it cycled, but it was a picture to give you to show, my system... I wish i had a better picture, this one is kinda embarrassing actually
