What tubing do I need? 8ball or anyone?

I'm having a lot of precipitation in my return line on my 40g. The tubing is black with ridges, and I think the ridges make it easier for little bits of calcium carbonate to form and grow.
Anywhoooo, I want to replace the tubing.
I want a tubing that's smooth that fits my Mag 5 return pump.
What kind, what size, and where do I get it???

I can't remember if the mag 5 is 1/2" or 3/4" and I'm not around mine to check. I used a NPT to barb adapter with non kink vinyl hose on mine. It's basically clear vinyl tubing that looks reinforced with small strands of rope. It's very durable stuff. If I can find a piece and I do make it to y'all's meeting tomorrow I'll bring it with me to show you what exactly it is. I've found it at both Lowes and Home Depot. Possibly by the foot but definately in 10' rolls. Should be about 12 bucks.

Mag 5 has mpt 1/2 in IIRC, and I would just look for 1/2 id tygon available at Lowes or HD. It is easier to find and much more flexible than spa flex or pvc, which should make for an easy, inexpensive replacement.

Hey can you be a bit more spicific.I did a search on tylon tubing and found many different typesI used spa flex,works well but it is a bit ridgid

Thanks guys. I picked up some clear vinyl tubing with some sort of reinforcing mesh in it at Lowe's for 82 cents per foot. I'm not sure what Tygon is either, but what I got seems to be OK.

Buzz,

Food or beverage grade Tygon tubing should be fine. Plasticizer free or laboratory grade ones are excellent as well. High purity ones may be overkill.

Do you guys know how you can connect the tubing to PVC?Im thinking of trying my mag 12 return out of the sump useing tubing so I dont have to redo all my plumbing.Also thinking of useing a SQUID on the return via tubing to PVC.

Something like this can be incorporated easily into pvc with a few fittings available at the local hardware store.
