Hello, have a newly setup tank 55 gallon, and it's about 7 weeks old. Has one clownfish, 1 firefish and a small cuc. went through diatoms for about a week and now I am seeing some bright green algae start to grow on the rocks and now a lot of purple spots. Was seeded with 5lbs live rock and 40lbs dry base rock, live rock looks to have a few specks of red, or could be purple but just darker due to rock color. This looks like coraline to me, but since the tank is so new and it's growing decently fast, it would very much suprise me.
A few of my snails had a little coraline crusting on the shells when I got them a few weeks ago. Below are pics, one of the live rock, and the other more white Rock was the base rock, which all of my base Rock now has purple spots on them. The areas where I am seeing purple is in line with the power head, so is a higher flow area.
Also lights are older, probably freshwater lights as it came with the tank, haven't upgraded yet, and I used conditioned tap water until about a week ago when I got my Rodi unit. So this why I have a hard time believing it's coraline haha. All input is greatly appreciated as I am new at this. Thanks
