What type of algae

Hi Reefers

I have this kind of algae that does not seem to go away and when I sift my sand around it crumbles in chunk as you can see in one pic, it's kind of a blanket of algae on my sand bed It's kind of hard to explain but with your experience and pictures you could probably identify and recognize it as it's ugly when I put the white lights on can you tell me what kind of algae it is and what is the remedy? If you can answer me on this it would be awesome.

That is green cyanobacteria... Its not an algae but a bacteria..

There are thousands of posts about how to attempt to solve it and in general they are..
1-Siphon it out during water changes
2-3 day (or more if you don't have corals) lights out (just turn lights off for 3 days or more).
3-Siphon again after the 3 day lights out..
4-increasing flow (rarely a true solution nor cause just happens to spread it around really IMO)
5-Chemical treatments like red slime remover or chemiclean.. (follow directions EXACTLY)
