What type of lighting do you like??

I myself run leds. I like the sleek profile and great colors. But I think with right combos, nothing can beat t5s. They can give great growth and color.

I'm not a fan of metal halides personally.

T5 for me. I ran halides for years and years and switched to all T5 one year ago. I personally have zero interest in led.

Love the shimmer from MH's.....You miss that with flourecents type lighting!
Shimmer makes a tank for me...then bulb color....

In my frag tanks I like 6500K MH - Nothing grows coral faster. Not for showing just growing

In my display tanks I'm old school w/ VHO

Not real impressed w/ LED yet! But they will become the lighting of the future as they already provide some nice variable controls. We just need to get the nm configuration worked out. Right now I am experimenting with a combonation of two blues to every one white and alternating the white w/ daylight white and soft white. In addition every fifth white is replaced by one red. In a 15 diode array I have 10 blue diodes, 2 daylight diodes, 2 soft white diodes, 1 red diode. I using the cree 1.3 w/ reflectors to simulate 3.9 watts traditional from each diode or 58.5 watts per array. I have three arrays for a total of 175 watts on a 40 gallon breeder mixed tank w/ all frags. I'm only three months in so i'll have to get back to you on what i think in another 9 months.

True, the shimmer is a make or break thing for some. I personally missed the shimmer from the halides for about a week. I love the customization of bulb combinations with T5's.

I love my leds, I use a mixture of modules and strips. The thing I like about them, is you can have any spectrum of color. and you're not limited to four bulbs, or 6 bulbs. I have a whole mixture of colors of leds in a small place

my corals are growing pretty fast too. I dont have too many corals though. I have a couple other hobbies, and plus im 14 without a job so i have to save up for a while for my corals.

My preference is T-5s. I've only had MH and T-5s, so I can't speak from experience with LEDs. I do like the thin fixtures with LEDs, but I've read so many mixed reviews that I've opted not to go that route yet. I am hopeful all the kinks will be worked out and that someday I can transition to LEDs. I like the fact they are cool and very efficient, watt for watt.

I have a very nice pair of Pacific Sun LEDs and the color is very nice, but i still prefer a MH/t5 combo. however, without leds i would most likely not have gotten back in the hobby.

I went from T5 to LED and I noticed the brighter colors, the pop with blues on and the amazing growth within the first month... I'm really impressed with the shimmer and flexibility you get from LED's not to mention the cost reduction with bulbs and electricity...

I have 14k pheonix on one tank, and LED on the other. I vote LED. I'm just waiting for the $ to roll it to retrofit the other tank with a full spectrum LED build.

Halides are my favorite but I live in Vegas so my AC and wallet hate em. T5's just work for me.
