what type of lights for mushrooms?

Im with geo all the way, esp if its a frag tank. If your going to "sell them" to people you need to think about where they will be going. How many people use PC as their main source of light, not many. They will get your frags and put them into a MH setup and they will most likely bleach out on them even on the sandbed.
Another reason NOT to use PC on a frag tank that you plan to sell out of is growth, you wont have much with PC. Dont you want your frags to grow out at the highest possible rate so you could turn them quicker and then grow more quicker?
Color and overall health will suffer as well and that will show to anybody whos looking closely. I ran pc on a ten gallon and it made me ill to look at it day after day, im speaking from experience.

I would get a 150.
I run a 150 on my 20 tall soft tank and i wonder sometimes if i could have went with a 250. I would get the 150, if you go for the 70 you will most likely want to upgrade it down the line and then you just bought 2 lights.

I am not a coralife anything fan, i belive you pay alot for the name but thats just my opinion.
I think the fixture would be fine but i would replace the bulb. I like 14k because you get a little color and decent growth but then again were talking about softies so maybe a 20k because you have no atinics. I use 20k on my softie display system and i really like the Giesemann megachrome blue bulb (20k) alot, colors pop and my stuff grows good AND the bulb has a 6000 hour stable burn time.
Thats nearly 2 years till you would need to replace it.

FavaBean, I am using the coralife clip on 150W MH on my AP12. I am very pleased with it. The bulb is a 20,000K. The color is really nice. Not to blue and yet has a blue tint to it. I don't think there is anything wrong with the bulb the fixture comes with. If you go with that light you could at least run the bulb out , then if you aren't happy with the results you can always go different when it is time to replace it.

I have the same shrooms in my Aquapod with 70 watt halide and in my boyfriends 10 gallon with powerquaq pcs. Personally I hate the way they look in my tank, they spread slow and stay very small. In the 10 gallon the blues became purple and huge! It keeps making babies left and right. Reds looked about the same and the my ugly green and red became more red. I actually just moved all my shrooms out into a tank with really low pcs to see how they do in there. I'm thinking of fragging a few into the shaded area of the Aquapod since I know they stay smaller and don't spread as much but I really didn't like what the halide did to them. 90% of the zoanthids look better under the halides though.

A lot of the shrooms do like low light. But there are also a lot of them that like higher lighting and do well with it. A lot of times just because a coral is huge doesn't always mean it is a good thing. A lot of the time it is because it is trying to get more light and that is why it is stretching out so big , to have more surface area to get as much light as it can. When your shrooms stretch way up from the surface, it is usually the case. All corals react different under different tank conditions even though they can have the same light. At least this is what I have seen in my tanks.
