Macros are great for seahorses because they can act as hitches. The main one people tend to stay away from is caleurpa taxifolia which can become a nuisance with overgrowth and can "go sexual" and pollute your tank water. It also depends on what else you want to keep in the tank besides the horses. A very expensive macro can be decimated quickly by some members of a clean up crew - I have a large turbo who eats anything red as fast as possible.
Any of the caulerpas can go sexual. Its related to a lack of nutrients. This pushes caulerpa into a reproductive mode.
Wish I could find prolifera here in Canada. It mimics seagrass very nicely. Havn't seen any in several years.
Any caulerpa will work for the Horses. Chaetomorpha is a good choice if you want to set up an in tank refugium for pods to grow and reproduce in. It forms a dense mass that keeps the horses out of the center.
I like prolifera as well, I have to prune my tank every two or three weeks and if the LFS doesn't want it, it goes in the trash. None of the local reefers use it.
Wish I knew what kind of gorg it is, the LFS is not known for their SW knowledge and the other one they received with this one died a few months ago in the store.
I wish my reef tank did as well as this tank. I do absolutely nothing to this tank but clean the skimmer cup every few weeks .
