What type of maintenance does a skimmer require?

I am about to purchase a Sapphire Nanoskimmer BC29R, what type of maintenance will this require? Do filters need to be replaced, or any parts every certain amount of time? I'm still learning about skimmers.

I clean my skimmer once a month. I empty the collection cup when needed. Monthly maintenance. will help the skimmer work better..

Cleaning depends on the level of skimmate it produces. Kepping the main bubble tube clean and slick seems to help keep the froth coming on mine. AquaC Remora

I just toothbrush the inner cup on mine whenever I empty it.
