What type of skimmer are you using?

Just curious on what type/brands of skimers are everyone using? Im in the market for 1 for the new 180 which I picked up last Saturday @ GlassCages. I was thinking about a deltec but there a little to pricy for me.

I have been using a coralife super skimmer. works really good and very adjustable. get a nice thick skimmate. for that size tank I would go with the 220.

Here is mine, an Aerofoamer 830.

I got it used in the classified forum. I got a great deal on it and it works great. Compare it to the EV-180 next to it to get an idea of the size.

and RCmike is using the Aerofoamer 830 on his 37 gallon tank. Wait till you see the picture of the skimmer he uses on the 110 gallon tank ;)

Sorry just had to do it

That wouldn't handle the 37 I don't think. I am using it on this.

Seriously though, I have the 110, the 37, and the 40 frag tank plumbed together and the aerofoamer is running them all.

Check out the new octopuss skimmers ( I know thats not spelled right :) ) I think they are a deltec knock off but lots of people are using them and likeing them I think.

I run 2 skimmers. The big octupus RC one with the gutter guard, enlarged air intake, rounded and enlarged return in the volute, and overflow feed mods (all highly recommended for maximum performance). The other is a MR1 fed by a Mak4 pump with a modified injector. Both work well and pull skimmate, but frankly, there's not much left to pull out of my tank :)

I'm using a Coralife 65 on my 55 gal. reef and a Coralife 220 on my 180 gal. reef. I bought coralife because I'm on a budget! They seem to work OK for me. But, I must say these are the only skimmers I,ve ever owened.

on my 65 reef I run an euroreef 6-2
on the 120 FOWLR I run a deltec AP600

Do I like my Deltec.. Yes. Do I think its god's gift to skimming? No.
I love my deltec for its easy plumb it in and turn it on feature. I have not fiddled with it since setting it up. Its very quiet as well. I can although get the same skimming performance with my euroreef it just takes abit more noise, fiddling with, electricity use, and temp rise from the huge pump.

I love my MRC MR2. I will likely be upgrading to an MR3 to handle the 120 and 125 simultaneously (whenever I get off my lazy butt and plumb them together). The week after the tank issues while I was in Montreal, I got over 5 gallons of crap out from the skimmer-dark crap...

ASM G4+ on my 225 and love it. I use an Octopus on the 120...good skimmer, but not as impressed as the ASM. I have run many ER's in the past along with ETSS, etc. Dollar for dollar, I like the ASM's overall the best.

Props for ASM here also, I run a G3 (130gal or so total) and its awesome. I can get a dark full cup of skimmate a day, if I want. Ive backed it down because of the ATO and salinity issues to about a full cup every couple days. ER has nothing on ASM IMO....but thats all Ive had....besides the seaclown...
