---What water flows threw first---

In a HOB emporer 400 filter your able to put 2 things in their to give you filtration for what ever specific need you may need, I have the drop in carbon inserts that you get from the store, and then I bought drop-in cages that you can put what ever kind of media you want in them to add behind the carbon inserts. (right now I have extra carbon in them)

The other day I got my order from Marine Depot with some poly filter that I bought to help clarify the water a bit, its a thin piece (50 micron) that I'm able to add into the emporer. Where should I place the poly filter???

In front of the carbon inserts ?

In between the carbon inserts & drop-in cages with extra carbon ?

Or behind the drop-in cages so that it the last thing the water passes threw before going back into the tank ?

I want to make sure that I am getting the best out of what I do have to make the tank look good !!! Thanks for all the help

I would place the poly first in line and clean/replace it at least once a week. That will keep the amount of gunk on your carbon down.

P.S. when you change out the poly, you may also want to massage the carbon bags to break up any channels.

Thanks for the anwser to a simple question... right now I have it after the carbon insert but before the drop in cages with extra carbon... But I will make the change later today... Thanks again BLockamon
