What wireless adaptor for Apex on AT&T UVerse 2Wire Network

Ok now I have the network stable on the web and on my intranet what wireless adaptor is proven using a 2 wire router using AT&T UVerse. I would like to do away with my network cable... I have read on the net some have had issues with UVerse 2 Wire and wireless adaptors....

The issues IME are mostly with the more basic 2Wire DSL routers, not the ones used for UVerse.

If you have it hard wired (by far the most reliable) why would you want to go wireless ( most unreliable) ?

Only reason I just had shoulder surgery and cannot run it hard wired up the wall through the attic and back to the router. Wife already complaining the cable is running behind her fireplace mantle behind pictures. She does not want to see the wire running but now she thinks one of my four kids are going to pull cable and break her pics

Why do you say wireless in unreliable? I'm not having any issues with mine being wireless. I feel like a lot of people have great success with it.

OP - I use the Netgear WNCE2001. Good little wifi adapter and SUPER easy to setup.

A tip for when you get it:

When you configure port forwarding in the UVerse router using the Pinhole and Applications page, do NOT pick your Apex out of the displayed list of computers. Instead, manually enter the Apex's IP address.

If you need another option (or someone else reading this) I know that this will work with the Uverse/2 wire set-up. I've been running it for over a year now on my GHL ProfiLux and I've also incorporated a webcam and my DishNetwork Sling Adapter into it as well (it has 4 ports to connect 4 wired devices to your network).

I know this is an old thread, but in case someone has this question: I think the best route is to get a power outlet network adapter. You use your house's electrical wiring! I just set mine up this week and has worked great so far.

I use PowerLine adapters for connections between my network and my home entertainment system, and agree they're great. You get fantastic speed without running ethernet cables.

Just realize though... these PowerLine adapters only work when you have power to your house. They can't be powered by a UPS. So if you're relying on your Apex to notify you of a power outage, it's not going to happen using a PowerLine Adapter. Using an AC-powered wireless adapter, you can power it off a UPS, and assuming your modem/router is on a UPS you can receive notification of power outages and connect with your Apex during a power outage.

I use the Powerline adapters for my Apex, and have used them to provide network connection for desktop computers in the house. I bet I've had them in play for close to 10 years. Handy little buggers!
