What wood to use for dyi stand

It depends on how you finish it. Many people use pine. It can be stained or painted. If you are looking for a higher end look you would want to use a better grade of wood like maybe maple. If this is your first project I would probably go with pine.

For my frame I used pine, it goes a long way to pay a little extra at HD for the better cuts of wood. I've built a few stands now and I must say that it makes a HUGE difference when you use better wood for your stand, wish I would have saved a few extra dollars for higher grade wood for the frame. For the skin I love the way birch looks but they didn't have when I was building my stand.

I like birch for a commonly found wood. I hate the grain on oak. There are more exotic woods but be prepared to pay out the wazoo! If you have to ask this question you're probably not going to use those words anyway. Are you looking for structural advice or for different suggestions based on the grain or aesthetics of the piece. For a stand that small three-quarter inch plywood should be sufficient on its own.

A little bit of both. I was looking to see what wood would be best structurally and what material is used for the paneling. I want a stand that has two large doors one in the front and one on the side for easy access. Also what is used for the bottom flooring? I have had leaks and minor floods in my current stand and half the right side sank about an inch lower than the left.
