what would you choose?

Hi all :)

About... uhh... 2 years ago, I moved my 3 fish out of thier little tiny tank into a bigger better one. My pair of clowns didn't care one way or the other. But wow was my puple tang, Petey, happy about getting more swim space! Heres a few pics~

Its about 200 gallons. Ignore the blue painters tape! 2 years and I still havent decided how I want to trim out the window opening... how sad is that?!

Ok, so I got some new rock when I upgraded and it came with free bonus aiptasia! heh! :p

After several attempts to kalkwasser them to death, I resorted to buying a fiesty little copper band butterfly. He totally rocks and has kept the tank free of the pest anemones for like 6 months now! And even better, he gets along great with Petey!

I've read around 21345346343 fish posts but have never been able to decide on any new additions.

Wrasses jump. Anthias require 2 feedings a day. Green Cromis can be agressive. Gobies like soft fluffy sandbeds. I'd hate to upset Petey with another tang. And I don't want anything that will eat my cleaner shrimp or clams!

I guess I could add a nice Royal Gramma...

Ok! Its pretty obvious I could use some advice. :rollface:

What would you consider adding? I'm thinking 3-5 more fish sounds cool. What would go well with a purple tang, a cbb, a pair of clowns, 4 cleaner shrimp and 2 clams?

Foxface/Rabbit would be my first choice
Cardinal fish
Marine Betta (may be too aggressive for the cleaner shrimp, but then again being cleaner shrimp it may totally leave them alone).
 
I agree on the Rabbit fish and maybe 2 Bangaii Cardinals...and a Wantenabi Angel (run around $100)... or a nice cheap alternative is a Lamarks angel (runs $30-40)

If I had a bigger tank, this would be my wish list:

- doliatus or virgatus rabbitfish (SO much prettier than a normal foxface - they are awesome looking)
- watanabe angelfish (nice blue color, reefsafe - a pair would be cool)
- chalk bass
- royal gramma
- forktail blenny (blue head, yellow tail)
 
nabe angel isn't anywhere close to as cool looking as sallowtail or bellus - IMO(and they are reef safe as well)

chromis are usually only aggressive towars other chromis - IME
 
Do a nice Fairy Wrasse...Ive had my Lubbocks wrasse for several months and it hasn't tried to jump. Go with a watanabie angel! BEAUTIFUL fish!! If you get a male and female they will fare better in captivity...but if you can get 2 females, go for it...the dominate female will turn in to a male! Thatd be cool to watch. Maybe even a small Blue throat trigger. Ive had mine with shrimp and no problems yet. Just get the smallest one you can find and keep them well fed!
 
bret...you've got a B.T. trigger in a 55g? .................man i gave mine to a guy with a bigger tank because my 120g was too small!

I had a wonderful time looking up each fish in detail!

Some of these fish I had previously considered and then passed on entirely to quick. (Like the Canary Blenny because I saw they were venomous or the Chromis because I read they were aggressive.) I see now, that I didn't read enough!

And some of these fish I had not looked into at all, and are real gems that I am very excited about! (Like the Female Bellus and Blue Spot Rabbit)

My fish list now looks like this:

Royal Gramma Basslet

Female Bellus (I found a healthy little one in a great on-line store for a good price too!)

Canary Blenny

Blue Spot Rabbit

I think these 4 will be wonderful tank mates, and give my growing reef the splash of color and activity that I am looking for!

i would get anthias. have problems? waste, feeding amounts?
buy a bigger skimmer or an automatic feeder. those feeders save all kinds of feeding probs
