So i have a 46 gallon bow front reef and a 120 gallon XH reef, The 46 has 2, 150 corallife DE MH and the 120 has a 6 bulb tek light. Ive been thinking of taking my 46 down and moving everything into the 120 and redoing the 46 or another new tank (46 BF or 75 long) or selling the tank and stand and making a frag tank with the remains of my setup. The frag tank would just be a sumped 50 gallon rubbermaid into the sump i have on my 46 but with baffles and what not. Im stuck and want to hear what others would do. I have also thought about the cost of only having one tank compared to two and ill save alot of money but that extra money would just buy more corals the only thing that is stopping me is that the 46 is in my bed room and looks amazing and the 120 is amazing as well but is in the basement.

Taking care of two tanks is time consuming and im a perfectionist and takes me hours to clean the tanks so one might be better off as well.

Picture is of the 120 XH

Keep both! A part of you will be missing if you sold the 46 gallon you get to stare at every day before bed and when you wake up. You might start feeling depressed and resort to setting up a sleeping bag in the basement. After losing sleep because the floors are hard you will soon find yourself moving a mattress down and let’s not forget the problems this will cause if you are married!

Wow I crack myself up! How much do you think you are going to save? Are you tired of taking care of two tanks? If you can afford it and are not neglecting one tank for the other I say keep it. I would love to have a small tank in my room. That is actually a great idea. I might have to talk to the wife.

zmckenziw, I have a couch in front of the tank in the basement anyways and fall asleep there all the time! haha, Im not married just going to college and live with my parents. over all ill save on salt, b-ionc, my time and lights. Cost isnt much tho, i take care of the 46 ans my brother pays for everything for the 120(he had it in an appt and always tripped the circuits. I always go in cycles, one tank gets treated better than the other every other week and i dont plan on it, just happens :( i would miss waking up every morning to it. I could also just do a FOWLR with a clown trigger that ive always wanted... Hmmm ideas!
