what would you suggest for lighting

the tank is a 8'*3'*3' 500 gal tank and wanting to do coral top to bottom and have no restrictions on where i put anything. right now i am looking at the ecoxotic 100 watt cannons but i want as many options that i can get on this project

I would go with 4 - 250 watt metal halides and VHO super actinics.

not necessarily, I run 3 250w mh on a 180 and don't have a chiller...I keep my ambiant room temperature around 74 and the tank never gets over 80

nice i just have a worry cause it is a client and it is in a back room and they do not cause much watching temps

Orphek 24" 156w at marinedepot. Perfect for tall tanks. Very pricey though.

you would need several...I am liking the look of that fixture, but they are only 1 watt LEDs so i would do a little more research

have been they are saying they are spotty and you can see braces that are on the tank they are saying the par is good but what is the pur? idk
this seams like if your not spending $2500 on lighting your getting so thing that is only sub par
