I have an 8 gallon biocube that I am using as a fuge for copepods. Three days ago I put some hermits in there to clean up the sand and rock. I gave them some frozen mysis to supplement them. This moning I noticed the water had alot of stuff floating in it. I looked closer and there are hundreds of live baby mysis shrimp! Is this common? Does this happen all the time?

Oh, and Do I just feed them the food I have been giving the copepods?

Unless you had put live adult mysid shrimp in the tank, I can't see how there could be juveniles. I suspect that you have amphipods instead. For photo examples, please see the zooplankton section of my hitch hiker pages.

Sounds like youve got amphipods, they are great morsels for your fishies!

well whatever they were, they were dead when I got home today. I didn't see them swimming in the water anymore then I looked at the filter and they were all stuck to it. I well, I guess I will never know what they were.
