if anyone has been on 'new to the hobby' lately they've heard me ask a lot of basic ?s about saltwater tanks that any normal person with a tank should know, but believe me i didn't. It all started when i went to the dr and seen a sw tank in the office. I knew i wanted one in the house then. I went to petco (wrong store to go to i know this now) to find out how to set up a tank of my own. She said unless i had a lot of time to tend to it and make it a hobby it wasn't for me, i still said well what does it take? she went on to say "well you need a tank, a stand, live sand, live rock, you got to mix your sw or buy it, you need a skimmer, heater, filter, lighting, testing kit, lions, tigers and bears oh my! I left the store thinking maybe not. the very next day looking throw the sunday paper i seen a ad saying sw tank for sale up and running. It came with 55g, stand, sand, live rock, skimmer, 330 pinguen filter, oddasey, compact light, heater, flame angel, yellow tang, bleeny, blood shimp, pepermint shimp, anemone, ch. chip star fish, some snails, 2 clowns all for $400. we moved everything about 15 miles to my house all in 5g buckets. he set it up for me and that was in october and everythings fine. its like a new mother bringing a new baby home one day no tank next day full set up. you want to do whats right for it but you don't know how to take care of it. thats why all the basic ?s. i just bought the shoulder tang and white sleeper. im gonna show you pics. of my tank but im gonna have paintbug post them because im not for sure how. they should have a place for rookie of the month tank. so if everything comes out alright then my pics. should paintbug gets my thread.

well thats my tank, none of my fish have packed up and left me. thanks paintbug for doing that for me.

Neat tank, well done, especially considering how you jumped right in! Keep asking questions - I have learned volumes here from posting questions and reading other people's posts.

fish look great, i however don't like the fake logs and such, it just doesnt look natural in a reef tank but otherwise, nice pickup

Very nice looking setup. You can't beat that for only $400.00 either. Much cheaper then you would have ever gotten away with at PETCO.

Very nice aqua-scaping. Only one comment, it look too much like FW. Do you know why? It's the background. Have you try the other side of the background paper? It's normally plain without any pictures of plants, and IMO, it's more appropriate for a reef setting.

Only my 2 cent.

Looks good though you should remove all the fake items and keep it 100% natural as in a reef.My .02 cents

Great looking Tank Logs and all but maybe you should heed the advice, I heard wood is not good thing in SW Tanks, I think it leeches stuff into the water.

not bad at all!!! although, you might want to change the background to either dark blue or black, unless you like what it looks like right now.
if you only have 1 powerhead, you might want to add 1 or 2 more for better water movement. last, you might want to remove 1 of those tangs because 2 will create toooo much poop for a 55 gal. tank. good luck!
