whats a good skimmer for my tank?

The first and for most question you always have to ask in this hobby...

How much are your willing to spend?

I would look at Octopus skimmers. What do you plan on keeping and why do you want to skim? I should be around tomorrow night so shoot me a PM-I deleted your cell # on accident.

don't mean to hijack but is there a real difference in performance between ASM, euro reef, and octopus skimmers, i'm looking for a new skimmer for my new 75 gallon setup.

i'm getting frustrated trying to figure out which to go with with so far i'm thinking between a asm g1x or g2, or octopus nw 150.

Shoe,
I just did a quick search on Odyssea protein skimmers and the general consensus is that they are junk. They do look pretty cool for something that cheap though. I have an ASM G-3 and it works great (although I realize it is way to big for your sump).

lol after phils message I did the same and got the same result lol i saw it in the f/s forum for $20 lol shoulda put 2 and 2 together lol

Derrick and salty, I have both the ASM & Octopus. IMHO I had to do to many MOD's to the ASM G3 Recirc to make it a worthy skimmer, It works wonders now. I've done 2 quick and fool proof MOD's on the Octopus and can't believe how well it performs. Octopus skimmer's are higher quality built, better materials and have far better pumps. ASM IMO is built poorly and has a terd for a pump. They use the Sedra pumps which are just a fair pump at best. Octopus uses a Oceanrunner pump ( or one built & design by copying off of Oceanrunner to the T ). I'd go with an Octopus before the ASM, But that's JMHO.
