Anyone have any ideas on whats a good started seahorse? I was told kuda or erectus? If I get either what size tank is needed?

I've got H. erectus, first pair. Had em couple months now. Love them to peices. Mkae sure you buy from a reputable breeder and they are eating frozen. Most say 20 or 30 gal tall, I started with a 50 gal. The more water you have the easier it is to maintain water qaulity and the 50 can always add another pair or two.

As long as you get quality captive bred seahorses from a reputable breeder, I don't believe it really matters a whole lot in the day to day care of the animal. Where the difference comes in, is if you plan to rear fry. In that case, benthic fry are considered easier. That would limit you to H. erectus or H. barbouri for the most common tropical spieces available. H. reidi and H. kuda are just as easy to keep, but their fry are more challenging.

Or buy them from a reputable breeder - there are not as many as you think there are. There are horror stories out there if you search...
