Whats Growing On My Acro

Just wondering if anyone had any idea as to what is growing on my Acro. This coral has grown amazingly since I got it. It was given to me last year by a family member who got it from the Dalhousie University Research Sale last year. It was brown and almost smooth when I got it. It is now green with purple tips. It had major tissue necrosis last which has completely recovered. There are a couple of areas that have these strange bulbs which are visable in the pictures. Anyone know what these are? They are the same color as the rest of the coral, just in a bunch.

I've seen this occasionally as well. Never seemed to get worse for me, also never seemed to cause any problem long term. Maybe it's warts for Acropora!

Wow thats truely weird. Thanks for sharing. Hope someone knows what causes it.

Rendos,

Could you give a brief explanation or description of "Acroporanoma"? I am not familiar with it.

No luck when I Googled the term "Acroporanoma".

Acroporanoma
Acropora = self-explanatory
noma, or specifically "oma" = tumor or growth

I don't know what that is, but it looks pretty odd/cool.

I think its been said o be acro blisters. From some of my acros that i have had i think its how they start growing multiple new branches.

just a thought... but have you tried removing it to see if detatches easy as well as to get a closer inspection??? It is pretty cool looking.... almost looks like an echino growing on it it :D
