What's in my tank?

Hi guys,

I am wondering what these two things are.

First photo: When coralline started to grow, there was 2 darker spot growing on that Fiji branch. I thought it was a different kind of coralline but now, as you can see in the center of the photo, it's turning bright green. Any idea what that is?

Second photo: On two pieces of live rock I have these small eggshaped gelatinous looking things. They appeared quickly after the tank set up but haven't grown since.

I am curious to know what these are. Let me know what you think.

Hey Didier,
The second photo is a sponge. You would be surprised how many will start growing in your tank. In mine, under most of the rock and now some are growing like stalagmites and in the caves all over my rockwork. Many differnet types & forms. All different colors from vibrant orange to nice yellow, even pink is in my tank. pretty neat seeing it tucked away in the crevices. I cant tell from the first picture what that is -- but heck you only live a few blocks away -- can always pop over for a quick look.

No tentacles. It is a little thicker than plain coralinne...

Maybe just a patch of algae growing on some dead coralline?

My crabs are now eating the green part. Whatever it was, it is almost gone now...
I guess Joe is right, might have been a brown algae turning green when dying.
