AJ,

I emailed Klaus about the RBTAs earlier this week. He emailed me back Friday saying he only had one left so I got there early on Saturday. Plus, you had to be looking for it or you would never have found it. Fully open, it's only about the size of a half dollar. When it closes, it isn't any bigger than a nickel. I almost didn't get it because it was so small, but after seeing the color in my tank I'm glad I did.

Ah, well you did get yourself a nice looking RBTA.

I hope it grows well for you.
Keep us posted on it's progress.

AJ :)

Great scoops, I really like that mushroom and will be looking to you once it starts going crazy multiplying in your tank and you want to get rid of some.... :) That rbta is great and if it is any help that gbta monster of mine was that size when I got it two years ago and now it is larger than a dinner plate. Just keep an eye on it and protect your powerhead intakes as they can easily float around and get sucked into the powerhead at that size. Also, try feeding it a small bit of silverside every other week and it should grow really quickly.

I have a huge older style tunze stream that made me nervous, so I covered it's intake while acclimating everything. There shouldn't be anything in my tank that can kill it.

I'll pick get both silversides and mysis this week. Right now the only thing I have to give it is krill.

For the record Lorna, whenever the mushroom takes off and multiplies, you are first in line. :)

Whats in the bag...... Yep I was one of them. Awsome looking shroom and I was eyeballing the RBTA's when I was in there last week. Even though its small it has some pretty nice color with a metallic look to it. Hopefully it keeps it.

I'm sad to say it's been a lousy week for my recent purchases. First, my new shroom just disappeared late last week. Either something ate it or it detached and floated away (I think it might have been in too much flow.) If I'm lucky, which I doubt, I'll have shrooms sprout somewhere else in the tank after a couple of months.

Next, my RBTA decided to detach on Sat. Powerheads are covered so I wasn't too worried. It wound up face down in the sand under my rock work. I took the rock work apart and fished it out yesterday, but I fully expect it to be dead today or tomorrow. The foot looks fine, but the top half of the nem is a white mess. Not a tentacle to be seen. I can't even say that the mouth is gaping because I can't tell if it still has a mouth.

I'm really bummed because it was such a good looking nem. It even ate a few times. I put in in a clear dish at the base of my tank to protect it from flow, but it didn't attach.

I don't have all of the test kits I need to give accurate water params, but every other coral in the tank looks great. The bubble expands to almost twice the size it was in the store.

If anyone sees a good looking rose in town, let me know. I think I'll impose a 3" minimum size on myself this time though.

Matt any update on the nem....if you still have it try and get one of those suction cup dishes that attach to the shower....place it in one of those up high near the top. place a rock or something in it and hope it attaches to the rock.....the lower flow will help it and if it isn't gone you can spot feed it there. I should have suggested it a few days ago but it sounded like it was doing fine. Sorry to hear it wasn't..... I know my big bta was just that size when I got it and I thought I had lost it into a rock crevice...only to have it turn up a few weeks later where it has been ever since, lodged into a rock at the back of the tank. Luckily it is now the size of a dinner plate when inflated.

Unfortunately, it completely melted yesterday. I'm not exactly sure what went wrong. It was in a relatively low flow area and had eaten a couple of times. Granted it wasn't originally in a high light area, but it never showed any signs of bleaching or stress until it detached and started to melt.

I can only guess that it has something to do with my water chemistry. I'll give the tank another couple months to further stabilize and then try again I suppose.

My wife was really bummed that I lost that original mushroom and encouraged me to see if I could get another. Klaus had two left so I thought I'd try my chances again. This time I put it in lower light and lower flow. Hopefully I'll have better luck this time around.

good luck Matt, is it attached to anything? if not try putting it in a small container with some small rubble and then place wedding veil netting over the container.....it will then attach to a piece of the rubble and then you can place it in your live rock without losing it......

yeap Lorna is right on. I used to do a lot of mushrooms back in the day. And well not the funky kind.
I used to do the same thing.

The new mushroom is attached to a piece of rubble so I shouldn't have any issues. The old one was attached also, but it was in a spot that made it very unhappy so it abandoned ship in search of better territory (which it never found).

Only day two on the new one, but so far so good.
