What's latest trend in physical and chemical filtration?

Physical:
-To skim or not to skim on nano?
-Filter bags/foam to remove detritus?

Chemical:
- Phosband - phosphate removers
- GAC - Granular Activated Carbon

Nutrient Exports:
- Water changes?
- Algae scrubbers?
- Chaeto?
 
My bank just has a hang on refugium and a uv sterilizer. Nothing else sometimes I'll put carbon and gfo but its been a while. Heater, ato and thats about it. Oh yeah just started to add kalk to the ato

I personally wouldn't skim in a nano. Water changes should be enough depending on the size of the nano. I use filter floss in my tank and try to change out weekly but is a futile attempt. Lol.

I mostly have softies and a few lps like a hammer and a torch. It was a macro algae tank but they mostly died.

Thanks for advice. I love macro algae too. Any idea why yours died on you? Lack of nutrients or light?

Probably a lack of nutrients..and a lack of time..Lol. I'm pretty good at the beginning but then my maintenance drops off after a few months as I get distracted
