Whats on my Duncan?

I found this cotton ball type thing on my Duncan.

Looks like some kind of sponge, but it is hard to tell from the picture.

Looks like some kind of sponge, but it is hard to tell from the picture.

The lights were ramping down at the time I took the picture, I had to shine a flashlight on it. I'll take a better picture when I get a chance. Looks like the end of Q-Tip stuck to the side of the Duncan.
