Whats ORP and what does it imply in my reef

Hi Randy,

So I took the plunge and got a Neptune controller since I am away from home soo much and would like to keep an eye on things. Well one of the things this thing can do is monitor ORP. So my question is what is it and what can it tell me about the health of my tank?

I know its Oxygen Reduction Potential(?) or something like that. I've done a few searches on here but nothing of real value has surfaced yet. Do you have an article about ORP that I could read? I did see in a post that you did something to that effect.

It has to do with the use of ozone or an ozinizer if you don't use one then you don't need that function on your cotroller.If you decide to buy one then you have the controller for it.

I woulndn't get one only because I have heard if something goes wrong and to much ozone gets into the system everything dies.I know many people use ozone but I think its risky.If your not around alot and something happens(wich always happens to me) you will be upset.I have heard people who use it say the water is very clean and clear.I would look into it before buying one.
