I need something thats high in nutrition. i want to feed them frozen cause it will be cheaper in the long run. should i soak the frozen food in a supplement like selcon? thanks :)

i was gonna get some vibrance from ocean rider and soak that in frozen mysis. i figuire that'll do it.?

It's a waste IMO. I'd use beta glucan but that's about all.

With vibrance you soak the mysis in the vibrance and then put the mysis in the tank, when pouring the mysis in the system it does this strange thing, it gets wet. The vibrance starts coming off and going loose in the system. The best way to enich is to gut load, otherwise I say forget it. I haven't enriched, ever. My WC is somewhere over 6-7 years old, never a disease.

very interesting......so is the frozen mysis i feed enough? so far thats all i give. they gobble it up fast! so if i did soak the food they eat it within 5 seconds of hitting the water. anyways if i can feed them hikari brand mysis and have them thrive for 4-5 years with no addatives ill do it. if you experienced this then im with ya!

I feed live ghosts because I was an idiot and bought a WC reidi that is scared of frozen mysis. Really he runs and hides. It's teh funniest thing ever.

There are a few very knowledgable keepers who I know and respect that only feed frozen mysis. One of the most knowledgable people I have ever had the priveldge of corresponding with only uses mysis and sees no difference with enrichment or no.

JME.

Like I said if I want to gutload something I have an easier time feeding live, but I do spend over $500 more a year per horse for that priviledge. Damm scaredy cat seahorse. Personally I do not enrich. Honestly i don't even feed my feeder shrimp for the time I house them which is up to a couple of weeks.

ok i have also heard of this with tank raised specimens. mine are tank raised and will eat almost anything. i think your right and they will do fine on just mysis if they accept it. mine do...in any case i am eventually wanting mine to breed so i think the excess vitamins will help in this process. i also think they can do just fine without. thank you so much for your time and comments. salt is so experimental! im gonna experiment with keeping them on mysis for now but eventually will give soaking selcon or whatever a try but no rush...thanks again.

Also the brand of mysis is important just so you know I would highly recomend Piscien energetics frozem mysis. Its very nutritious, and the mysis come out in whole shrimp so the horses like it more. If you can find it... not many stores cary it. The second best would be gamma or hikari mysis good luck w/ ur kudas

yeah i heard this too. this piscien brand is not readily available in my area. i do use hikari brand cubes and feel confident using it.
also i am using a product from kent for soaking the frozen mysis. it is called zoecon and is rich in omega 3 fatty acids.

i only use it twice a week or so.
