What's The Best Hang-On Filter & Skimmer For Seahorse Tank

How big a tank?

I tried a Magnum HOT 250 on a 20 gallon tall hex. It was to much flow in areas. With a spray bar that distributes the flow it may have been ideal.

I don't know any hang-on skimmers that don't inject micro bubbles into the tank ... for that reason I would recommend water changes and display-quality macro instead of a hang-on skimmer.

Well, I'll either be keeping the 75 gal or sell it & get a 30 gal cube. There are different opinions about skimmers with seahorses I know.

The HOT Magnum might work on either of those tanks.

A thought about the two tank choices (both great choices). I had my horses in a 110 gallon w/ lots of LR ... they used all the space and spent much time picking around in the LR. The downside is they can hide in a big tank ... you may not see them as often or notice if they get sick.

I'm a pro-skimmer guy. Micro bubbles are what is thought to increase the risk of GBD. If the skimmer you choose doesn't dump micro bubbles into the display ... that's a good one. I just don't know of any hang-ons that don't.

i have a AC 70 on my 29, works good for me....i guess it just really depends on who you ask..i used to have a skilter250, and that skimmed pretty well, although, i never used any other skimmer, so im kinda partial. but to illiminate microbubbles, i just put some filter padding at the output.

I like the Remora's for skimmers. The magnum HOT cannister filter is good too. I like the old style of cannisters like the fluvals myself. :D
